Privacy Policy
Mark Edward, Inc. (“Plucky,” “we,” “us”) runs getplucky.io and app.getplucky.io. This policy explains what we collect, why, who else touches it, and what you can ask us to do with it. For a shorter version, see How your data is handled.
What we collect
When you visit the website or join our email list: your name and email address, and the date you signed up. Our web servers also keep standard logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting.
When you become a client: your contact details, your billing details (handled by Stripe, so we never see your full card number), and the answers you give on your intake form.
Your financial data: the transactions and balances from the bank, credit card, and payment accounts you connect or send us, plus the categories, notes, and reports we build from them.
Bank logins, only if you choose to share one: for banks that don’t work well with Plaid, we can download your transactions using a login you share with us. That login is encrypted before it’s stored, and we’ll always tell you which of your accounts work this way.
How we use it
We use your information to do your bookkeeping, to bill you, to send you messages about the service, and, if you’ve signed up for it, our newsletter. We don’t sell your information, rent it, or use it for advertising, and we don’t share it with advertisers.
Who can see it
Only you, Mark Butler, and Katie on our team can see your books. Your tax preparer can see them only if you ask us to give them access, and you can ask us to remove that access at any time.
Services that handle your data for us
We rely on a few providers to run Plucky. Each one receives only what it needs to do its job.
- Plaid connects to your bank. It provides read-only access to transactions and balances, and you sign in to your bank on Plaid’s screen, so we never see that password.
- Stripe processes payments. If you connect a Stripe or PayPal account for your own business, we read its transactions the same way we read a bank’s.
- Anthropic, an AI provider, processes some transaction details to help sort transactions and read PDF statements. We review your books before they’re closed.
- DigitalOcean hosts our servers in the United States.
- Postmark sends our emails, and Kit manages our newsletter list.
- YNAB and Google Sheets receive your data only if you ask us to send your books there.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to a company that takes over Plucky, which would be bound by this policy.
How we protect it
The website and app only work over an encrypted connection. Bank logins you share with us are encrypted before they’re stored. Email isn’t a secure channel, so please send statements through the app or by secure upload when you can.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from marketing emails with the link at the bottom of any email, or by writing to us.
- See or correct the information we hold about you by asking.
- Delete your data: if you stop using Plucky, ask us to delete your data, and we will. We may keep billing records as long as tax law requires.
If you’re in the European Union, you also have the rights the GDPR gives you, including access, correction, deletion, portability, objecting to processing, and complaining to your supervisory authority.
Changes
We’ll post any change here and update the date below. If a change affects how we treat your financial data, we’ll email you first.
